Day-by-day itinerary

This reusable program is anchored to these event dates, so Day 1 begins on Monday, 10/12/2026.

Day 1 Arrival & Welcome Monday, 10/12/2026

Day One is about arriving, settling in, and finding your people. Explore the river, garden, cabins, and hammocks before gathering for a homemade dinner and an easy first evening together.

Airport Pickup

Important Note: Romania is part of the Schengen Area. Travelers are responsible for confirming their own entry and visa requirements. We do not provide invitation letters or visa assistance.

We offer free pickup from Sibiu International Airport (SBZ) and Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport (GHV), both approximately 1.5 hours away by car. If arriving via Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP), travelers can take a train (approximately 4.5–5 hours) via CFR Călători to Făgăraș Train Station, where we will arrange pickup. FlixBus also serves Făgăraș.

For travelers arriving late in the evening, we offer a complimentary early check-in the night before.

Lunch & Orientation

Early arrivals will enjoy a simple homemade lunch while meeting the hosts and getting an introduction to Berivoi. This includes an overview of the property, the surrounding area, safety guidelines, and the flow of the week.

Arrival & Check-In

Guests will check into their cabins and have time to settle in. During this time, travelers can explore the property, visit the river, relax in the hammocks, and begin adjusting to the slower rhythm of rural Romania.

Final Pickup Window

Late arrivals will be welcomed, shown their accommodations, and given time to rest before the evening gathering.

Welcome Dinner

The group gathers for a homemade welcome dinner. This is the first opportunity to meet fellow travelers, share stories, and begin forming connections.
Day 2 Făgăraș, Lisa & Romanian Traditions Tuesday, 10/13/2026

Day Two blends medieval history, local culture, and beautiful countryside. Explore Făgăraș Fortress, browse the farmers market, enjoy a picnic in Lisa, and discover traditional Romanian woolcraft at La Vâltori.

Făgăraș Walking Tour

Discover the historic heart of Făgăraș through its fortress, cathedral, lakeside park, and farmers market. The morning blends medieval history, striking architecture, everyday local life, and time to choose fresh additions for the afternoon picnic.

Picnic in Lisa

Drive into the countryside and enjoy a relaxed picnic using fresh ingredients gathered from the farmers market, combined with homemade dishes prepared at Berivoi.

Traditional Wool Workshop

Experience La Vâltori, a living Romanian tradition as water powers the washing and finishing of wool. See the process up close, take photographs, and browse authentic blankets, clothing, and handmade wool products.
4:45 PM – 5:30 PM

Village Walk

Take a slow walk through Lisa village with the Făgăraș Mountains as your backdrop before returning to Berivoi.

Free Time

Relax by the river, unwind in the hammocks, or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere around the property.

Gather around the fire to hear stories about Romanian traditions, village life, local history, and the places explored throughout the day.
Day 3 Făgăraș Mountain Adventure Wednesday, 10/14/2026

Day Three is the wild heart of the trip, offering three ways to experience the Făgăraș Mountains: a gentle valley walk and river rest, a short but intense rope-assisted climb, or a challenging hike to Fereastra Mare.

Breakfast & Preparation

Enjoy an early breakfast, prepare packed lunches, fill water bottles, and review the day’s weather, routes, and safety plan. Each traveler confirms their chosen pathway, guide, footwear, rain protection, water, emergency contact, and expected return time.

Drive to the Trailhead

Travel from the Advent Center through the countryside to the normal end of public vehicle access in Valea Sâmbetei.
8:45 AM–10:30 AM

Shared Hike

Walk together through the forest and along the Sâmbăta River toward Cabana Valea Sâmbetei. The trail gradually opens into a dramatic glacial valley beneath the main Făgăraș ridge, where the group will pause and divide into three different mountain experiences.

Rest & Choose Pathway

Rest near the cabin, eat a snack, refill water where available, and prepare for the pathway that best matches your energy, confidence, and hiking experience.

Option 1: Gentle Valley Walk

Enjoy the mountains without committing to a difficult climb. This option offers beautiful scenery, fresh air, and the freedom to explore at your own pace before returning to the river for a slow afternoon in nature.

Gentle Valley Walk

Continue into the lower glacial valley, following the trail toward the high mountains without taking on the steep ascent to Fereastra Mare. Travelers can turn back whenever they feel comfortable.

Picnic & Mountain Rest

Return to the Sâmbăta River near the cabin for a prepared picnic, hammocks, reading, journaling, photography, quiet conversation, or simply time to rest in the mountain setting.

Option 2: Short & Intense

This climb is short, steep, and memorable. The trail rises sharply over rocky, exposed terrain and includes sections assisted by fixed ropes or cables. It is intended for confident hikers with proper footwear who are comfortable with heights and strenuous climbing.

Arsenie Boca’s Rock Cell

Take on a short but intense 30–40 minute ascent from Cabana Valea Sâmbetei. The trail climbs steeply over rocky, exposed terrain and includes sections assisted by fixed ropes or cables.

Visit the Rock Cell

Pause at the destination, take in the setting, and learn about its local significance.

Return to the Cabin

Carefully descend the same steep route back to the cabin area.

Picnic, River & Hammocks

Join the rest group for lunch, river time, hammocks, reading, photography, or a gentle walk farther into the valley.

Total climbing experience: approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.

Option 3: High-Mountain Challenge

Continue through the upper glacial valley toward Fereastra Mare a Sâmbetei, the dramatic mountain pass in the main Făgăraș ridge. The route becomes progressively steeper and finishes with a sustained climb into the high alpine landscape. This is a demanding but achievable full mountain hike for fit travelers.

Follow the trail through the upper valley and climb approximately 829 metres from the cabin to the mountain pass.

Descend to the Cabin

Day 4 Crafts, Cooking & Village Life Thursday, 10/15/2026

Day Four slows the pace with hands-on creativity, comforting food, and village life. Cook a Romanian-inspired meal, make something to take home, cycle through the countryside, and end with a relaxed game night.

Walk through the garden, stretch, journal, relax by the river, or spend time in the hammocks before the day’s workshops begin.

Crafts & Cooking Workshop

The group divides into rotating hands-on stations.

Romanian Cooking

Help prepare a Romanian-inspired vegetarian lunch using simple seasonal ingredients. Depending on the season, the menu may include mămăligă, bean stew, fresh bread or flatbread, roasted vegetables, soups, salads, preserves, or a local dessert.

Village Bicycle Tour

Take a guided bicycle ride along quiet village roads around Berivoi and the surrounding countryside. Pass homes, gardens, fields, river crossings, and mountain viewpoints. The route will be adjusted for weather, road conditions, and group confidence; travelers who prefer not to cycle can stay at Berivoi.

Return the bicycles, shower, rest, finish your craft, or spend time with the group before dinner.

Day 5 Bran & Brașov Friday, 10/16/2026

Day Five is the signature sightseeing day, pairing Bran Castle with the medieval streets and panoramic views of Brașov.

Enjoy breakfast, prepare picnic food, fill water bottles, and review the weather, transportation plan, and walking requirements.

Drive to Bran

Travel through the countryside and mountain landscape toward Bran.

Bran Castle

Explore the narrow stairways, rooms, courtyards, and mountain views of Bran Castle, while discovering the contrast between its real history and the later Dracula tourism story.
11:45 AM – 1:00 PM

Bran Market & Picnic

Browse the market and nearby shops for local food, wool products, souvenirs, and photographs before continuing toward Brașov.

Afternoon

1:00 PM – 1:30 PM

Drive to Brașov

Continue from Bran to Brașov through the Rucăr–Bran corridor and mountain landscape.
1:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Old Town Walking Tour

Explore Piața Sfatului, the Black Church, medieval streets, Catherine’s Gate, Rope Street, old city walls, and the colorful architecture of one of Transylvania’s most beautiful towns.
5:00 PM – 6:30 PM

Return to Berivoi

Meet in Council Square and return to the vehicles.

Dinner

Enjoy a relaxed homemade dinner after the longest sightseeing day of the trip.

Day 6 Rest, Nature & Sunset Saturday, 10/17/2026

Day Six is designed for rest, beauty, and connection. Begin with a slow pancake breakfast, walk through the countryside, discover a hidden forest table, and close the week with food and conversation at sunset.

Begin the day with a slow pancake breakfast featuring homemade fruit preserves, berries, walnuts, warm apple compote, fresh fruit, and plenty of tea.
9:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Free Time

Rest in a hammock, walk beside the river, explore the garden, read, journal, or join an informal gathering with music and conversation about rest, gratitude, freedom, and life at Berivoi.
11:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Nature Walk

Walk from the Advent Center through the surrounding countryside and woods toward Berivoi Monastery, enjoying river crossings, village views, and mountain air.

Afternoon

12:30 PM – 2:00 PM

The Hidden Forest Table

Arrive at a forest clearing where the support team has prepared an outdoor table with blankets, baskets, flowers, and a Romanian-inspired feast of seasonal foods.
2:00 PM – 4:30 PM

Free Time

Stay in the forest, return to the river, relax in the hammocks, visit with the group, take photographs, sketch, read, nap, or walk through the village.

Evening

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Sunset Table

Share favorite memories, unexpected moments, food, friendship, photos, and contact details as the week closes at sunset. Exact timing will be adjusted seasonally.
Day 7 Farewell & Departures Sunday, 10/18/2026

Day Seven is a gentle farewell, with one last breakfast, time by the river, and unhurried goodbyes before coordinated airport and station transfers throughout the day.

Pack your belongings, check out of the cabins, and enjoy a final walk by the river, time in the hammocks, or quiet conversation with the group.

Airport & Station Drop-Offs

Coordinated transportation will be provided to Sibiu International Airport, Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport, Făgăraș Train Station, or the Făgăraș FlixBus stop. Later departures receive a simple packed lunch or travel snack.

Final Goodbyes

Depart with new friendships, mountain memories, and a side of Romania most travelers never experience.
