Day 1 Arrival & Welcome Monday, 10/12/2026

Day One is about arriving, settling in, and finding your people. Explore the river, garden, cabins, and hammocks before gathering for a homemade dinner and an easy first evening together.

Important Note: Romania is part of the Schengen Area. Travelers are responsible for confirming their own entry and visa requirements. We do not provide invitation letters or visa assistance.

We offer free pickup from Sibiu International Airport (SBZ) and Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport (GHV), both approximately 1.5 hours away by car. If arriving via Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP), travelers can take a train (approximately 4.5–5 hours) via CFR Călători to Făgăraș Train Station, where we will arrange pickup. FlixBus also serves Făgăraș.

For travelers arriving late in the evening, we offer a complimentary early check-in the night before.

Early arrivals will enjoy a simple homemade lunch while meeting the hosts and getting an introduction to Berivoi. This includes an overview of the property, the surrounding area, safety guidelines, and the flow of the week.

Arrival & Check-In

Guests will check into their cabins and have time to settle in. During this time, travelers can explore the property, visit the river, relax in the hammocks, and begin adjusting to the slower rhythm of rural Romania.

Day 2 Făgăraș, Lisa & Romanian Traditions Tuesday, 10/13/2026

Day Two blends medieval history, local culture, and beautiful countryside. Explore Făgăraș Fortress, browse the farmers market, enjoy a picnic in Lisa, and discover traditional Romanian woolcraft at La Vâltori.

Day 3 Făgăraș Mountain Adventure Wednesday, 10/14/2026

Day Three is the wild heart of the trip, offering three ways to experience the Făgăraș Mountains: a gentle valley walk and river rest, a short but intense rope-assisted climb, or a challenging hike to Fereastra Mare.

Enjoy an early breakfast, prepare packed lunches, fill water bottles, and review the day’s weather, routes, and safety plan. Each traveler confirms their chosen pathway, guide, footwear, rain protection, water, emergency contact, and expected return time.

Drive to the Trailhead

Travel from the Advent Center through the countryside to the normal end of public vehicle access in Valea Sâmbetei.

Shared Hike

Walk together through the forest and along the Sâmbăta River toward Cabana Valea Sâmbetei. The trail gradually opens into a dramatic glacial valley beneath the main Făgăraș ridge, where the group will pause and divide into three different mountain experiences.

Rest & Choose Pathway

Rest near the cabin, eat a snack, refill water where available, and prepare for the pathway that best matches your energy, confidence, and hiking experience.

Option 1
Gentle Valley Walk
Enjoy the mountains without committing to a difficult climb. This option offers beautiful scenery, fresh air, and the freedom to explore at your own pace before returning to the river for a slow afternoon in nature.

    Continue into the lower glacial valley, following the trail toward the high mountains without taking on the steep ascent to Fereastra Mare. Travelers can turn back whenever they feel comfortable.

  2. 11:30 AM–3:30 PM
    Picnic & Mountain Rest
    Return to the Sâmbăta River near the cabin for a prepared picnic, hammocks, reading, journaling, photography, quiet conversation, or simply time to rest in the mountain setting.
Option 2
Short & Intense
This climb is short, steep, and memorable. The trail rises sharply over rocky, exposed terrain and includes sections assisted by fixed ropes or cables. It is intended for confident hikers with proper footwear who are comfortable with heights and strenuous climbing.

    Arsenie Boca’s Rock Cell
    Take on a short but intense 30–40 minute ascent from Cabana Valea Sâmbetei. The trail climbs steeply over rocky, exposed terrain and includes sections assisted by fixed ropes or cables.

    Visit the Rock Cell
    Pause at the destination, take in the setting, and learn about its local significance.

    Return to the Cabin
    Carefully descend the same steep route back to the cabin area.

    Picnic, River & Hammocks
    Join the rest group for lunch, river time, hammocks, reading, photography, or a gentle walk farther into the valley.

    Total climbing experience: approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
Option 3
High-Mountain Challenge
Continue through the upper glacial valley toward Fereastra Mare a Sâmbetei, the dramatic mountain pass in the main Făgăraș ridge. The route becomes progressively steeper and finishes with a sustained climb into the high alpine landscape. This is a demanding but achievable full mountain hike for fit travelers.

    Follow the trail through the upper valley and climb approximately 829 metres from the cabin to the mountain pass.

    Picnic at the Window
    Enjoy the prepared picnic with views across the ridge and back toward the Sâmbăta Valley.
  3. 1:30 PM–3:30 PM
    Descend to the Cabin
    Return along the same route and regroup near Cabana Valea Sâmbetei.

    Total from cabin and back: approximately 5 hours, including lunch.

Descend together through the forest to Parcarea de la Barieră.
